A moment of grace is a moment in which an amazing, incredible thing happens on our behalf, without any effort on our part, without any planning or goal-setting, without having to be perfect or good enough. Grace and Gratitude, a new two-day advanced seminar, is an exploration of these moments and how bringing our attention and presence to them encourages the practice and expression of gratitude in our lives.

How does expressing gratitude benefit us? Stress can cause elevated blood pressure and hormonal changes that can lead to chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. On the other side of the spectrum, research is also offering us more and more data on the effects of happiness and positivity on our health and well-being. One such study, by the UCLA’s Mindfulness Awareness Research Center, showed that regularly expressing gratitude changes the molecular structure of the brain, keeps the gray matter functioning, and makes us healthier and happier.

Grace and Gratitude offers extensive opportunities to experience deep presence and profound gratitude. You will learn skills and practices to transform thoughts and behaviors that deplete energy and aliveness, increase chronic anxiety, and create feelings of isolation and a lack trust within us. You will leave with an awareness of tools to create personal resiliency and life-long health and well-being.

Over the weekend you will learn and practice behaviors to:

  • Cultivate daily mindfulness
  • Build both resiliency and your capacity for joy
  • Be aware of your attention and how to direct it to create greater happiness and well-being
  • Practice empathy and self-compassion
  • Create a healthy and positive “inner landscape” based in love and respect
