Yesterday, at a job fair I was offered a contract for a wonderful school district in Alaska. I went to the job fair and felt very confident in myself. I knew what I wanted for my life and what I didn't. I went in with a very clear head. Big change from the past. I will be moving out of the bush and moving towards civilization. No more isolation. I will be teaching in a city with about 5,000 people. There are lots of things for me to do and there is a major grocery store. They are also on the road system, ferry system, and a short flight to Anchorage. I did sign the contract last night and I will be teaching preschool special education for half the day and grades K/1 for the other half of the day. It is what I always dreamed for. This district is very hard to get into so I must have made a huge impression on them.

Since attending Wings, I have felt more confident in myself. It is amazing to see the change. I am walking around with my head high and I know what I want for my life. I have never felt so calm in my life. While I was up in Anchorage for the job fair, I took lots of long walks and sat on rocks by cook inlet to watch the sunset at 10 pm at night. This was the first time in a long time that I took time for myself.
